NOKIA Lumia 900 sebenarnya adalah produk kedua yang menggunakan OS Windows Phone. Generasi pertama hasil kolaborasi antara NOKIA dengan Microsoft ini adalah NOKIA Lamia 800 dan NOKIA Lamia 710 yang dirilis tahun lalu  di London. Namun karena NOKIA Lumia 900 merupakan Smartphone NOKIA berbasis Windows pertama yang dipasarkan di Amerika, maka sambutannya terbilang cukup hangat. Apalagi NOKIA Lumia 900 menawarkan berbagai perbaikan dari generasi sebelumnya.. Perbaikan-perbaikan tersebut antara lain, ukuran layar yang lebih besar yaitu 4,3 x 3,7 inch, dan dukungan koneksi LTE yang saat ini menjadi jualan utama operator AT&T.

NOKIA sendiri tetap menggunakan bahan polycarbonate pada NOKIA Lumia 900 yang diklaim memberikan kesan futuristik dan tetap mempertahankan kehandalan dan kenyamanan dalam pemakaian. Selain itu pada NOKIA Lamia 900 terdapat juga kamera 8MP di sisi belakang yang menggunakan lensa buatan Carl Zeiss. Lensa ini memiliki bukaan 28mmf/2.2 yang termasuk wide angle untuk sebuah kamera ponsel.
